ideAble
Redefining strategy for a social innovation platform empowering Singapore’s disability community
ideAble is a digital platform by SG Enable that connects persons with disabilities, caregivers, and problem-solvers. With low traction and a fragmented strategy, the team engaged me to redefine the platform’s purpose and rediscover its potential.
My role in this project was instrumental in:
Shaping the product’s vision and strategy to align with user needs and organizational goals
User research to uncover key needs and pain points
Facilitating stakeholder collaboration through a co-creation workshop
Proposing practical recommendations to enhance platform engagement and impact
The ideAble platform as it appeared in 2023. The live website may have since evolved.
Revisiting the Platform’s Value Proposition
We assessed the platform’s alignment with user needs, drawing on client-provided insights about the disability landscape. I proposed a refined value proposition to tackle its lack of traction, using the Hook Model to identify opportunities for stronger user engagement through behavioral triggers, actions, and rewards.
User Interviews
I conducted 10 interviews combining qualitative research and concept testing. The first half uncovered user needs and pain points, while the second half tested proposed concepts. For example, users showed strong interest in a content blog to share case studies, and equal preference for both open and themed challenge formats. These insights informed our final recommendations to the client.
Co-Creation Workshop with Stakeholders
To refine and validate our proposed solutions, I facilitated a co-creation workshop with SG Enable’s stakeholders. We gathered client feedback and generated additional ideas. This collaborative process ensured alignment with stakeholder perspectives, earning commendation from the client.
Shaping ideAble’s Future with 4 Strategic Recommendations:
-
Content Blog
A blog designed to attract users through SEO-optimized, engaging content. By sparking interest and addressing low awareness, it serves as a gateway to the platform, driving the first traffic.
-
Themed & Open Challenges
A hybrid approach offering both open challenges for user-submitted problem statements and themed competitions sponsored by organizations.
-
Integration of Sister Website
A quick-win solution to integrate SG Enable’s flagship grant site as a microsite. This approach leverages the grant’s existing content and legacy, with minimal redevelopment effort.
-
Dashboard for Grant Manager
An analytics dashboard to help grant managers track submissions, identify patterns, and streamlime processes. This solution addresses an emerging need, that is, the operational priorities of ideAble staff.
