Tailoring a client portal for renewable energy solutions
ACT is a global environmental solutions partner that empowers organizations to achieve their climate action goals.
ACT aimed to develop a client-facing portal to enhance corporate clients' visibility into their purchased renewable energy certificates and transactions, with a particular focus on the China market and WeChat integration.
As a UX designer, I:
Facilitated requirement-gathering discovery workshop to prioritize features and define clear requirements
Conducted research that shaped the overall product strategy
Designed and prototyped the MVP that targets global and China-based clients, collaborating closely with a development team
Requirement Gathering for This Portal
To kick off the project, I collaborated closely with ACT’s stakeholders to identify pain points in their current processes. We mapped out the end-to-end journey, highlighting inefficiencies across the client lifecycle. We uncovered pain points like delays in onboarding, manual workflows for contracts, and lack of real-time visibility for clients. These insights subsequently shaped the core features of the portal.
User Interviews
I conducted 9 interviews with key stakeholders across their client base. These participants included sustainability managers, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) teams, and supply chain managers.
Designing for WeChat
One unique aspect of this project was designing a mobile interface optimized for WeChat, given its importance in the Chinese market. My goal was to ensure that users could access essential features of the portal directly from their WeChat accounts with a lightweight, mobile-friendly interface.
Bridging Design and Development
In addition to designing the prototype, I took on a Business Analyst (BA) role to bridge the gap between design and development. I translated client and business requirements into clear user stories and acceptance criteria on Azure Devops, ensuring alignment across teams.
